Don't take Voltaren. Voltaren can be used at any time without a doctor's prescription. However, if you are allergic to diclofenac or other medicines, or if you have kidney or liver problems, you should not take this medicine. Talk to your doctor before taking Voltaren if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Don't take Voltaren if you are taking other medicines containing diclofenac, aspirin, or other NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). Talk to your doctor before taking NSAIDs if you are being treated with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as citalopram (Celexa) or sertraline (Zoloft). This is because these may be increased when you take Voltaren. You should not use this medicine if you are allergic to diclofenac or other medicines, or if you have severe heart, liver, or kidney problems. You should not take this medicine if you are taking other medicines containing diclofenac, aspirin, or other drugs known to cause diclofenac (such as ibuprofen, naproxen, or others). Talk to your doctor before taking Voltaren if you are taking medicines called cough or cold medicines, or if you are taking NSAIDs (such as aspirin or NSAID arthritis pain relievers).

What is in this leaflet

This leaflet will help you understand the steps that you will take to help you get or maintain an erection during the first four hours after taking Voltaren. (You may also be asked to read the enclosed leaflet before you take Voltaren, and share it with the doctor and pharmacist, who will decide what to do.)

It is important that you understand the steps that you will take to get or maintain an erection when you take Voltaren.   • Carbamazepine (Tegretol)
  • Cimetidine
  • Levodopa or aminotidine (otassium-sparing diuretics)
  • Other medicines used to treat mental/mood disorders (including anticonvulsants such as phenobarbital)
  • Antidepressants such as ciprofloxacin (Celexa), quinitambo (QuiQol)
  • Other medicines to treat HIV infection (such as nelfinavir, ritonavir, and oroxatapirines)
  • NSAIDs (such as aspirin and ibuprofen)
  • Antifungal medicines such as itraconazole (Vamelas) and ketoconazole (Nizoral)
  • Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as citalopram (Celexa) or sertraline (Zoloft)
  • Probenecid
  • Triptans (includingailoclinusporalinol), alprostadil, alfuzosin, phentolamine, and others

If you are taking this medicine and have not told your doctor about any of the above, tell them before you take this medicine.

How to take Voltaren

Voltaren should be taken exactly as your doctor has instructed you to. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew or crush it. If it is bitter or contains no substance, talk to your doctor. Take it with a full glass of water, at the same time each day.

Voltaren can be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it on an empty stomach.

Description:Voltaren Emulgel Extra Strength Gel is formulated to provide relief for acute, localized, minor muscle or joint injuries and contains diclofenac diethylamine, which is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. This gel has a mild scent that disappears as the gel penetrates the skin and can be applied every 12 hours.

Indications:For relief of aches and pain associated with acute, localized minor muscle or joint injuries such as sprains, strains, or sports injuries (e.g. ankle sprain, shoulder strain, back muscle pain, etc.)

Dosage for Adults Aged 18 to 65 Years:

  • Apply 2 grams twice a day (morning and evening) on the painful area using the dosing card supplied. Do not use more than 4 grams per day.
  • Voltaren Emulgel Extra Strength can be used for up to 7 days for muscle/joint injuries. See a doctor if symptoms get worse or do not improve within 7 days.
